Honestly, because they are awesome and I love them!  They are also extremely versatile and easy to maintain.  Their input vs. output rate exceeds any other livestock that we have ever owned.  Did I mention they are little balls of happiness?!?

I feel it mostly tastes like a cross between beef and venison without the gamey wild taste.

When bucks go in to rut, they pee on themselves so the does are attracted to them and their smell.  I don't feel like that impacts the meat any more than consuming a wild buck deer in the wild while in rut.  On our personal side, no, we have never had it impact any taste.

Goats are pregnant for 145-155 days.  Twins are pretty typical.  1-3 kids are common but they can have more.

I love the farm life and knowing where all of my food comes from.  I'd rather take care of my food and know what goes in to it than I would go to a job to pay for someone else's food that I don't know where it came from.

On top of that, farm life is exciting.  It really is a new day every day.  There's always something different happening.  Sometimes bad, but the good days outweigh the bad 95% of the time.

My chickens are allowed to be chickens.  I shouldn't have to explain more, but the fact is, they are allowed to eat bugs, enjoy sunlight, dust bathe, eat and lay in the grass and do everything they enjoy.  The results on the dinner plate result in a nutrient dense, extremely flavorful bird.

If it's on a large farm's label, absolutely nothing.  Free range to us, well, see above at the previous question.  Free range, at Square One Farms, simply means we allow them ( any animal) to live their best life and allow them to be as natural as we can possibly allow them to live.  We give our animals the best life they can possibly have, with only one bad day.  And the fact is, if we do it correctly, they never knew it was a bad day.
